Exceptional X-ray Technology

Wow,  a month has passed since my last post. Time has been flying by.  We
have been so fortunate to be busy here at Arizona Animal Hospital.  The
response to our practice has been excellent during the slow summer season.
Pet owners seem to be happy with our hospital and the way we are conducting
our business.  Our key objective of providing quality service at a valuable
price are playing out well.  One noteworthy example is our X-rays.
Building a new veterinary Hospital means having a choice to purchase new
equipment.  Our X-ray machine is the first HD (High Definition) X-ray unit
available in veterinary medicine and is the new standard in human
healthcare.  It takes clearly better images than other machines which I
believe is improving our ability to find problems in Pets.  We have priced
this superior HD X-ray service below the market price in the area.  We
wanted this technology to be accessible to everyone.  Stop by this summer
and take our Hospital tour and see the difference for yourself.  We are
open to all residents of Carefree, Cave Creek, North Scottsdale, Desert
Mountain and surrounding Communities.  A big thanks to everyone for your
support.  Its been a joy re-connecting with you all.

Alert!  Another Desert Dog Danger Update!
Monsoon season is here and so is another desert danger we see.  The Desert
(Bufo) Toad.  They come out in this more humid weather, generally in the
evening and their numbers wax and wane every year and it seems we have a
bunch in 2015.  I remember 12 years ago it was raining toads here, or so it
seemed like.  I was enjoying dinner outside at a local Cave Creek
restaurant and noticed these large creatures encompassing the patio dining
area.  they are chubby, squatty and unseemly large, measuring up to 7
inches in diameter!  They have a deadly neurotoxin on their skin.  Curious
Canines who get a taste of this toad (Usually at night) will start to
salivate excessively and in no time can be having life-threatening
seizures.  Here is what you need to do.  First - If you suspect toad
poisoning, immediately begin to rinse your dogs mouth with water for
several minutes, diluting the toxin in their mouth.  Then head straight to
your Veterinarian for pro-active care.  The Emergency Animal Clinic on
Scottsdale Road and Williams has expert critical care specialists who know
how to handle these cases if severe.

Brett the Vet's desert danger ranking for the Desert Toad is 4.5/5 on the
desert danger scale because these creatures seem innocuous, are a less
frequent visitor and we don't think about them as being a threat like we do
rattlesnakes.

Safety at Arizona Animal Hospital

Turtleskin is a company I got to know when I needed bite protection from
rattlesnakes.  Snakebites are a threat mostly in the warmer months for
people and pets.   We wear their snake pants and gaiters to protect us when
outdoors, enjoying our beautiful Sonoran desert.  Naturally we looked to
them for protection in our veterinary hospital when handling sharps like
needles and to aid us when working with feral cats and rescue cats.  We are
thankful for their support of our industry and our hospital.  For our
friends in the industry, I have found these products to be superior for the
safe-handling of fractious ferals.  We like to talk about these things
because we take workplace safety seriously.  Its good for employees, its
good for pets.  It one part of a full on approach to make our hospital
safer, cleaner, and friendlier.  Next week we will start covering in more
detail some of the new technologies we are bringing to the area, educating
our friends and consumers, sharing our best thinking in effort to make more
pets healthier and pet owners happier.

Sticking with this weeks theme, I want to wish everyone a safe and happy
4th of July.

AZAH- Smelly Vet Hospital?

OK - So it is of course a vacuum and it is an important piece of equipment
in our practice.  This one is designed specifically for operating rooms,
Pharmacy and Semiconductor manufacturing clean rooms.  A true HEPA
filtration vacuum that keeps our hospital cleaner.  Our vacuum is part of
an institutional approach to facilities management we took for our
hospital.  We wanted to adopt and implement the high standards found in
other industries here at our Scottsdale, Carefree, Cave Creek veterinary
clinic location.  The results so far have proven to keep our hospital
cleaner.  This is better for pets, better for employees and we think you
will agree.  Come and take a tour of our facility for yourself......and
please make sure you let us know if the place smells! Next week we will discuss the great product featured in the above image.

New Arizona Animal - Scottsdale Location Fine Tuning

Week 3 - Fine tuning.
We are using the equipment and I am amazed how the new modern technology
performs.  Everything in our hospital has to perform, has to have multiple
functions, has to be efficient and safe for the pet.  We have worked hard
to ID the best of Breed products over the last 2 years that fulfill those
requirements.  Yes the costs of buying the best equipment are high, but
were are able to save time and most important, space.  This hospital
operates as efficient as my previous facility that was 4 times the size.
This significant reduction in space requirements and hence overhead allow
us to provide modern, cutting edge medicine dentistry and surgery at a very
fair price.  To close, we have invested in quality while cutting expenses
that don't effect the quality of our service.  Last week we shared a
picture of one such piece of equipment that saves us time, space, money and
is best of breed in our industry.  It was a medical grade Oxygen
concentrator.
Its better than all the others being used in our industry in
the sense it produces adequate pressure (50PSI) which allows our anesthesia
machines to operate safe and optimally.  This makes it safer for the
patient.  It replaces a closet full of Oxygen tanks that over time saves
money and is good for the pet-owner.  Take a look at this next photo and
tell us what you see.  We will share the details with you next week.

New Vet Tech!

Week 2

Welcome back and thanks for reading.  We are making progress on all fronts
at our Veterinary Clinic located in Scottsdale Arizona.  New equipment, new
people, new pets arriving at our door.  We are fully operational
(Literally) having performed surgery and dentistry this week.  We have a
few remaining items on our list to complete that make life more convenient
and will share with you as we progress.  A big welcome goes out to our
newest team member - Alyssa, who has grabbed the bull by the horns and with
confidence has made several enhancements to our nursing/technical program.
One of the greatest things I have discovered about Alyssa is her broad
experience in handling animals.  Dogs, Cats, Birds, Pocket pets, Lizards,
Snakes, even goats!!!!  Wow!   Thanks Alyssa!  It is team members like this
that make the whole hospital better.  The sum of all the parts we have
assembled (Equipment, People and Partners) are better for pets.  We think
you will agree.  Come in and see for yourself.   On that note, I though it
might be a fun opportunity to start highlighting in our Blogpost a
photograph of a key piece of equipment that makes our place better or
different.  I hope our readers will respond with their guess as to what the
item is and why it is important.  Here is our first photo.  What do you
see?  We will talk about it next week.

Until then - Brett the Vet
